Our Intelligence . Our Right to Know.
Our Unity with the Divine.
Consciousness. Information. Thought. Self-Knowledge. Knowing. Transcendence. Union. Universal Identity.
The crown Chakra relates to consciousness as pure awareness. The Sanskrit name Sahasrara means "thousandfold" and symbolizes the totality of creation. It is in the experience of conscious stillness, that the crown chakra opens itself to the energy of the universe, the expansiveness of creation. Some refer to it as a "god source." It is our connection to the greater world beyond, to a timeless, space-less place of all-knowing. The crown chakra is the awareness center of our spirituality. When developed, this Chakra brings us knowledge and understanding, spiritual connection, and bliss.
The Crown - the mental and spiritual energy center
The crown chakra, or the seventh chakra is found at the very top of the head. The element associated with the crown is thought, and its energy is oriented to self-knowledge and knowing. It is the mental and spiritual energy center of the chakra system. Spirituality and divine connection are the themes of this chakra, alongside enlightenment and self-realization. Self knowledge, and a progressive understanding of our ever greater wholeness guides enlightenment, which is a pure and direct experience of reality, and a realization of our true selves. The crown chakra represents the potential for enlightenment that we all possess.
The function of the crown chakra is to achieve union with the divine, and/or connection to the collective consciousness - a level of being which contains all non-manifest forms and characteristics. When the crown chakra is open and its energy is flowing freely, we experience more and more moments where the division between inner being and outer life recedes into the background. Our consciousness is then calm and open to self-realization. This is a pure and direct experience of reality and what we know as enlightenment. It is also the experience and feeling of oneness (cosmic unity), or the merging of the individual self to the universal self. This merging with cosmic, or divine consciousness is the awakening of our true nature - the expansion of the awareness of universal consciousness within us.
We think of consciousness as our thoughts, but our thoughts are what consciousness creates, not what it is. Finding meaning is a universal urge. Consciousness is the means through which we reach understanding and find meaning. The search for meaning is the driving force of consciousness, and the purpose of this chakra. Meaning tells us how to operate. When our lives have meaning, they become part of a greater structure. Meaning is the patterns that connect, and bring us together. Meaning links the individual to the universal, achieving cosmic unity or a union with the divine.

Bring consciousness to your thoughts.
"What are you thinking about?"
"Do you thoughts center around how you feel, what you are doing, or what you are going to say?"
"Does your consciousness dwell in the future, past or present?"
"Do you believe that you create your own life?"
"Can you surrender to the will of the divine?"

Consciousness in its manifest form
The crown chakra represents the underlying consciousness that is the basic operating principles of all the other chakras. (Only consciousness is capable of seeing, speaking, loving, doing, feeling and living.) It is the pervading consciousness that thinks, reasons and gives form and focus to our activities and actions. It is also the origin of the energy of manifestation, as all acts of creation begin with conception, which is our ability to understand and imagine. We must first conceive of an idea before we enact it. Creation begins in the mind and descends through the chakras into manifestation, and into form.
Universal Identity
Realizing one's universal identity requires a foundation of the lower identities to be in place - it requires a conscious awareness of the energy centers that support the crown.
The crown chakra is related to the universal identity, which is oriented to self-knowledge and self-realization.
